During this masterclass the participants will discover how to break free from the script and understand a scene as a director, how to layer the scene by themselves, analyze it with the cast, and finally how to direct the actors through the scene. The masterclass mostly covers the narrative and acting part of the scene; it does not revolve around the technical aspect of filmmaking (camera, lighting...etc.).

Coach Janneke van Heesch will guide the participants and teach them how to direct the best scenes. Topics that will be discussed include:

What makes a captivating scene?
How to break free from the script?
How to analyse the scene as a director?
Lifelike characters and their lines
How to analyse the scene with actors
Show, don't tell

The masterclass aims to train and develop the skills of the filmmakers and help them prepare for their next film project. During the masterclass the filmmakers will learn about directing scenes within the context of a complete story.
