During this masterclass the participants will explore the world of scriptwriting, learning about the key elements that make a great scene. The masterclass will equip them with the tools and knowledge necessary to create captivating scenes with concrete change and character development.
Masterclass | Writing Great Scenes
Coach Janneke van Heesch will guide the participants through the fascinating world of scriptwriting and show them how to write the best scenes. Topics that will be discussed are:
- What makes a captivating scene?
- Breakdown of the story to scene-level
- The scene with the narrative
- Lifelike characters
- Genres, tones and emphasis
The masterclass aims to train and develop the skills of the filmmakers and help them prepare for their next film project. During the masterclass the filmmakers will learn about script writing, more specifically on the level of a scene.

Meet the Coach
Rosanne Pel is a Dutch director and writer and known for her awarded feature film Light As Feathers.
Rosanne Pel
Rosanne Pel first studied at the Utrecht School of Arts where she graduated in directing and scenario fiction in 2011 before attending the Netherlands Film Academy where she received her master's degree in 2015. Her debut film Light as Feathers premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival 2018. Among the many notable nominations and awards it received, the film was nominated in the Best Debut Film category at the Nederland Film Festival 2018 and won the jury award at the Brussels International Film Festival in 2019. Her second feature film received development subsidies from both the Amsterdam’s Fund of the Arts and the Netherlands Film Fund. The film will be produced by Family Affair Films.
