In this edition of our monthly column we present some interesting festival- and funding options whose submission deadlines are all in March. Don't miss them!

Finding your way

As a filmmaker, two things are very important: making films, obtaining funding and showing the film to the rest of the world out there! Around the globe there are so many great festivals and events that it is easy to lose track of what is happening. Among everything that is going on, it can be difficult to realistically assess which festival is the right one for your film.

Because of that CineSud Magazine started publishing monthly articles with the most interesting and promising international film festivals that you can submit to the following months. Next to that we give an overview of interesting funding options in the heart of the Netherlands, Belgium as well as Germany.

Film Festivals

Molodist - Kyiv International Film Festival

Submission deadline: March 1
Festival dates: May 29 - June 6

Over the course of half a century 'Molodist' developed from the local, purely professional review of student films of the newly opened Faculty of Cinematography at the Karpenko-Kary University to a major international event that discovers world-class directors. Nowadays, Molodist is the only international film festival in Ukraine with FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Association) accreditation. [Read more]

Sheffield Doc/Fest

Submission deadline: March 1
Festival dates: June 6 - June 11

Festival de Cannes

Submission deadline Semaine: March 8 (Shorts & Feature Films) 
Submission deadline Quinzaine: March 12 (Shorts)
Submission deadline Quinzaine: March 26 (Feature Films)
Festival dates: May 11 - May 22

Melbourne International Film Festival

Festival dates: August 5 - August 22
