Marie Lormeau wint Euregion Film Pitch 2021

Tijdens het SHIFT Film Festival werden vier deelnemers geselecteerd voor de Euregion Film Pitch. Na twee Pitch trainingen door producet Reinier Selen pitchten de deelnemers op zaterdag 18 september hun project tegenover een professionele jury, bestaande uit Thomas Mataheru (Blanc Film), Loes Komen (Room For Film) en Reinier Selen (Rinkel Film). De jury verkoos Marie Lormeau met haar project Le Traject tot winnaar.

Euregion Film Pitch

De Euregion Film Pitch is een pitch- en netwerkplatform dat CineSud sinds 2018 jaarlijks organiseert. Geselecteerde makers maken kans op cash geldprijzen t.b.v. nieuwe projecten of andere speciale awards, zoals een gesponsorde netwerk- en training-reis naar Festival de Cannes met CineSud. Voor de Euregion Film Pitch 2021 kon de winnaar rekenen op een productie-bijdrage van €2.000. Uit 11 inzendingen werden vier projecten geselecteerd voor deelname aan de Pitch.

Coaching en jury

In de week voorafgaand aan de pitch ontvingen de vier geselecteerde deelnemers tweemaal Pitch Training van niemand minder dan Reinier Selen. Uiteindelijk pitchten de deelnemers hun project live tegenover een jury bestaande uit producenten Thomas Mataheru, Loes Komen en Reinier Selen. Na een lang juryberaad verkozen zij het idee voor de korte fictiefilm Le Traject van Marie Lormeau tot winnaar. Le Traject gaat over Nathalie en haar dochter Julie, die tijdens een hectische autorit zich eindelijk open stellen voor elkaar. De film speelt zich af in het grensgebied Limburg - Wallonië.

Jury commentaar: "The jury was impressed by the high quality of all the pitches – pitching is never easy, especially in these times of Zoom and Skype. The pitches from the contestants originated from Cuba to Terschelling (well, at least story wise). They could have easily been a pitch we’ve heard at a professional film market such as Cinemart – so we salute you all for that.

The jury decided to support one project in particular, a project that engaged us and came from a very personal point of view from the filmmaker. The jury felt the urgency of this filmmaker to tell us this story and we were captured by the pitch. We decided to grant the prize and our incentive of trust to the project Le Trajet by Marie Lormeau and we will tell you why:

The filmmaker chose an original form in a unit of place, and lets her characters be captured by a cocoon, that later on becomes a trap. By using a moodreel in her pitch, we were able to visualize the vision of the writer/director. She chooses to challenge herself by working with actors in her own language, in this dialogue driven short film and we applaud that. We hope to see this film, that literally in the making process crosses borders, perhaps on an international filmfestival somewhere ..."
