Finding your way

As a filmmaker, two things are very important: making films, obtaining funding and showing the film to the rest of the world! Around the globe there are so many great festivals and events that it is easy to lose track of what is happening. It can be difficult to realistically assess which festival is the right one for your film.

That's why CineSud Magazine started publishing monthly articles with the most interesting and promising international film festivals that you can submit to the following months. Next to that, we give an overview of interesting funding options in the heart of the Netherlands, Belgium as well as Germany.

Film Festivals

Warsaw International Film Festival

Submission deadline: July 15 (regular deadline)
Festival dates: October 14 - 23

The WFF differs from other festivals in its program, just as Warsaw differs from other cities. Selecting the films, we always remember about our audience - native Varsovians, those working or studying in Warsaw, and those in town for a short while, for instance only for the Festival. [Read more]

Stockholm International Film Festival

Submission deadline: July 15 (regular deadline)
Festival dates: November 9 - 20

Atlanta Film Festival

Submission deadline: July 21 (early deadline)
Festival dates: April 20 – 30, 2023

Now approaching its 47th year, the Atlanta Film Festival (ATLFF) is the Southeast’s preeminent celebration of cinema and the flagship production of the Atlanta Film Society. One of the largest and longest-running festivals in the country, ATLFF showcases the work of both emerging and established artists and is one of less than twenty US film festivals that is Academy Award®-qualifying in all three shorts categories: Narrative Short, Documentary Short, and Animated Short. Carmarthen Bay Film Festival

Submission deadline: July 31 (early deadline)
Festival dates: May 15 – 18, 2023

Carmarthen Bay Film Festival has gone from strength to strength over the years. From our first festival in 2012, we have gone from 35 submissions to well over 1000 from 70 plus countries for our 2020 festival. Not only have the submissions increased over the years, but the number of filmmakers and festival patrons attending has as well. [Read more]
