Finding your way
As a filmmaker, two things are very important: making films, obtaining funding and showing the film to the rest of the world! Around the globe there are so many great festivals and events that it is easy to lose track of what is happening. It can be difficult to realistically assess which festival is the right one for your film.
That's why CineSud Magazine started publishing monthly articles with the most interesting and promising international film festivals that you can submit to the following months. Next to that, we give an overview of interesting funding options in the heart of the Netherlands, Belgium as well as Germany.
Film Festivals
New York International Children Film Festival
Submission deadline: October 1 (regular deadline)
Festival dates: March 3-19, 2023

Submission deadline: October 7 (late deadline)
Festival dates: February 17-26, 2023
The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival is the premier venue for non-fiction film in the American West. Big Sky offers an ideal setting for filmmakers to premiere new work and develop lasting relationships with fellow filmmakers and industry. Celebrating 20 years in 2023, the festival draws an audience of 20,000 and film entries from every corner of the globe to a uniquely intimate mountain town setting with local Montana flavor. Tribeca Festival
Submission deadline: October 26 (early deadline)
Festival dates: June 7 – 18, 2023
or more than two decades, Tribeca Festival has been a destination for new, groundbreaking storytelling from established and emerging artists. The 2023 Tribeca Festival will take place from June 7-18 in New York City. The Pan African Film Festival
Submission deadline: October 31 (late deadline)
Festival dates: February 1-20, 2023
Did you know each year a transformation happens in Los Angeles, CA? People from around the globe gather to attend the largest and most prestigious Black film festival in the United States. From 100 million dollar blockbuster premieres to newly emerging Hollywood talent, The Pan African Film Festival (PAFF) showcases a broad array of Black creative works from the world over, highlighting those that reinforce positive images and help to destroy negative stereotypes.
