The seventh edition of Euregion Film Festival was a blast. Finally we were able to open the doors of the cinema again! From March 1 - March 6 filmmakers and the audience were offered a dynamic program full of films, talks and more. The professionals jury decided on the winners. The audience voted during online and on-site screenings.
Jury
This year the professionals jury had to hand out awards for the films in the International and Euregion Short Film Competition: Best Euregion Film, Best Film and Special Jury Mention, Members of the jury were producer Dave Damon, actress Franziska Benz and director Abigail Prade.
Award winners
- Best International Film – EVERYMAN, by Jack Goessens (United Kingdom)
Jury statement: "The jury loved the cinematography, artistic approach and how the director combined the personal story with imagery of art, movies and mythology. Congratulations Jack Goessens, with Everyman!"
- Best Euregion Film – WALL #4, by Lucas Camps (the Netherlands)
Jury statement: "From the first moment we were sucked into this movie on the world of cinema. The acting and directing is spot on. The originality of the story was amazing, very well written. Pace, editing and cinematography was perfect."
- Special Jury Prize – YOU MUST HAVE COME FROM HELL, by Hayfaa Chalabi (Sweden)
Jury statement: "We really feel with the story. It is a personal and very wel written story. It shows in a strong way how we control and divide our world."

The festival
Euregion Film Festival 2022 took place From March 1 to March 6 online and on-site in the Royal Theater in Heerlen. 12 short films got selected for the Short Film Competition. Besides that, we hosted three special screenings; a screening of the graduation films of the Maastricht Institute of Arts, a pre-screening of four films Made in Limburg and a pre-screening of the short documentary GELUKSZOEKERtjeS. Filmhuis De Spiegel organised several screenings of feature films. For the industry program on Saturday March 5 we organised three online masterclasses. On-site filmmakers gathered for several networking drinks, a Writers Room and coaching and a production-masterclasses within the framework of our Shorts Lab. In total over 600 unique visitors took part in the festival.
