Finding your way
As a filmmaker, two things are very important: making films, obtaining funding and showing the film to the rest of the world! Around the globe there are so many great festivals and events that it is easy to lose track of what is happening. It can be difficult to realistically assess which festival is the right one for your film.
That is why CineSud Magazine started publishing monthly articles with the most interesting and promising international film festivals that you can submit to the following months. Next to that, we give an overview of interesting funding options in the heart of the Netherlands, Belgium as well as Germany.

Show Me Shorts Film Festival

Atlanta's LGBTQ Film Festival
Submission deadline: June 9 (regular deadline)
Festival dates: September 23 - October 1, 2023
Out On Film, Atlanta's LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) Film Festival, is one of the leading LGBTQ film festivals in the United States, as well as an Oscar qualifying one. Short films that win the festival’s Best Drama Short award will now be eligible to enter the Academy’s Live Action Short film competition for the concurrent season, provided their films otherwise comply with the Academy rules. In 2023, we will hold our 36th annual film festival. Each year, we showcase approximately 150 narratives, documentaries, short films. We show everything from international fare to local programming to retrospectives. We also place a big premium on working with filmmakers. London Short Film Festival

Festival dates: January 19 - 28, 2024
The 21st London Short Film Festival will be held in January 2024. LSFF exists to spotlight a multiplicity of filmmakers, visual artists and creatives, across intersections and with a commitment to peripheral voices. Each January, the festival hosts ten days of short form, conversation and multidisciplinary curation. Slamdance Film Festival
Submission deadline: June 30 (early bird deadline)
Festival dates: January 19 - 25, 2024
Celebrating its 30th Anniversary, Slamdance 2024 will combine an in-person festival in Salt Lake City and Park City, Utah and—building upon the success of previous online editions—an accessible virtual experience for everyone to enjoy. For online viewing, films will be available exclusively through the Slamdance Channel, the festival’s artist-curated streaming platform. [Read more]
