Finding your way
As a filmmaker, two things are very important: making films, obtaining funding and showing the film to the rest of the world! Around the globe there are so many great festivals and events that it is easy to lose track of what is happening. It can be difficult to realistically assess which festival is the right one for your film.
That's why CineSud Magazine started publishing monthly articles with the most interesting and promising international film festivals that you can submit to the following months. Next to that, we give an overview of interesting funding options in the heart of the Netherlands, Belgium as well as Germany.
Film Festivals
LA Shorts International Film Festival
Submission deadline: March 3 (early deadline)
Festival dates: July 4-31, 2023
LA Shorts International Film Festival ranks among the most prestigious and largest international short film festivals in the world. The festival is accredited by the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences OSCAR®, the British Academy of Film and Television Arts BAFTA and the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television (ACCT) presenters of the Canadian Screen Awards and The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences of Spain (Goya Awards). Camden International Film Festival
Submission deadline: March 6 (early deadline)
Festival dates: September 14-17, 2023
Founded in 2005 and recognized as one of the top documentary film festivals in the world, the Camden International Film Festival (CIFF) gathers the world's most boundary pushing storytellers and industry leaders for a four day celebration of nonfiction cinema. [Read more]
Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival
Submission deadline: March 17 (final deadline)
Festival dates: July 13 – 23, 2023
The Outfest Los Angeles LGBTQ+ Film Festival celebrates the queer experience with not-to-be-missed world-class films, panels, and events. Since our founding in 1982, Outfest has screened thousands of US and international films for audiences of well over half a million people. The Female Eye Film Festival
Submission deadline: March 31 (late deadline)
Festival dates: June 8 - 12, 2023
The Female Eye is a competitive international women directors’ film festival that was established in 2001, as a not-for-profit organization. The 20th anniversary returned LIVE at TIFF Bell Lightbox, June 2022. We look forward to the 21st edition! The Female Eye showcases high-calibre independent films that illuminate the best of debut, emerging, and established women directors from around the globe.
