Finding your way

As a filmmaker, two things are very important: making films, obtaining funding and showing the film to the rest of the world! Around the globe there are so many great festivals and events that it is easy to lose track of what is happening. It can be difficult to realistically assess which festival is the right one for your film.

That is why CineSud Magazine started publishing monthly articles with the most interesting and promising international film festivals that you can submit to the following months. Next to that, we give an overview of interesting funding options in the heart of the Netherlands, Belgium as well as Germany.

Film Festivals

Glasgow Short Film Festival

Submission deadline: October 31 (late deadline)
Festival dates: March 20-24, 2024

Since 2008 Glasgow Short Film Festival has been the leading short film event in Scotland. We host an inclusive community of filmmakers and film lovers, showcasing ground-breaking works of visual storytelling. IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival

Submission deadline: November 5 (extended deadline)
Festival dates: June 29-July 6, 2024

IN THE PALACE will take place in the Palace of Culture Pernik (Pernik, Bulgaria). 21st IN THE PALACE will take place from June 29th until July 6th. IN THE PALACE is a Goya Awards qualifying festival, Student Academy Awards® qualifying festival, and an Academy Awards®/OSCAR® qualifying festival for shorts in the categories of Best Animation, Best Fiction and Best National Film. Docville International Documentary Film Festival

Submission deadline: November 20 (regular deadline)
Festival dates: March 20-28, 2023

Go Short International Short Film Festival Nijmegen

Submission deadline: November 24 (regular deadline)
Festival dates: April 3 – 7 2024

Go Short is the main short film festival in the Netherlands. The 16th edition of Go Short will take place at the beginning of April 2024. During the festival days, Europe’s best and freshest short films are being screened. The best short films go home with one of the Go Short Awards. Aside from the competitions, Go Short offers an extensive program of events, talks, educational activities, workshops, parties and meeting points for filmmakers, the audience and other stakeholders. [Read more]
