SHIFT 2023 Ukrainian Focus announces winners

Jury and Audience decided on the winners.

During the evening of Ukrainian cinema we watched a curated selection of captivating Ukrainian short films and a comedy feature film My Thoughts Are Silent. We engaged in a relaxed and insightful CineTalk on Ukrainian filmmaking with Directors Village 2023 participant Kyrylo Zemlianyi. This special program was part of SHIFT Film Forum 2023.

Winners

The jury members for the Ukrainian Focus Short Film Competition were Vira Markina, Sofia Khmain & Tetyana Tokmakova. The Jury had to hand the Best Film Ukrainian Focus Award. The Audience voted for their favorite film as well. 

  • Best Film Ukrainian Focus – Teatralna Station by Alina Panasenko (Ukraine). 
    Jury statement: "The filmmaker managed to transmit the heartfelt connection between the heroes of the story. It is an original author's point of view of the whole plot and touching development of the story."
  • Audience Award – Golden Leggings by Arkadii Nepytaliuk (Ukraine).

Ukrainian Focus

For the second year in a row CineSud organised the Ukrainian Focus during the SHIFT Film Forum. The program consisted of short films, a feature film, CineTalks and Q&A's. The revenues of the evening are being donated to a charity fund to support the Ukrainian people and society.
