Strengthening the ecosystem around short film post-production in Europe.

In a powerful move to strengthen the ecosystem around short film (post-)production in Europe, CineSud officially launched its new POSTCO Lab during the CineSud International FilMatch at the prestigious Festival de Cannes 2025.

European post-production initiative for shorts

The POSTCO Lab is a brand-new international talent development initiative focused specifically on post-production for short films. Designed to support emerging filmmakers and post-production professionals alike, the program brings together directors, editors, colorists, sound designers and producers for a hands-on lab that hones skills, fosters collaboration and amplifies the quality of short films at the final, critical stage of production.

This pioneering Lab builds on CineSud’s track record of fostering cinematic talent through its various development programs and industry events, but distinguishes itself with a unique focus: post-production as a creative and collaborative force, rather than merely a technical afterthought.]

Launched in Cannes

The official launch took place on May 20, 2025, amidst the vibrant setting of the Festival de Cannes, during CineSud’s signature networking event International FilMatch in the Dutch pavilion at the Marché du Film. This annual gathering has become a cornerstone event for emerging European filmmakers seeking international co-production and networking opportunities.

This year’s edition of FilMatch brought together dozens of producers, directors and industry representatives from across Europe, offering the perfect platform to unveil the POSTCO Lab and connect it directly with potential participants and industry supporters.

Platform for artistic and technical excellence

The POSTCO Lab will welcome its first cohort in Fall 2025. Selected participants will work on real film projects in advanced stages of post-production, with guidance from seasoned mentors and industry experts. The Lab will focus on creative editing, color grading, sound design and storytelling enhancement - crucial yet often overlooked elements in short film production.

“With the POSTCO Lab, we aim to give short filmmakers a much-needed space to finish their work at the highest artistic level, and to deepen cross-border collaboration in post-production across Europe,” said Anna Demianenko, Head of Program & Talent of CineSud. “It’s about empowering the final stages of storytelling.”

Applications and future vision

Applications for the first edition are open now through CineSud’s official website, where filmmakers and post-production artists can learn more about the selection criteria, Lab structure, and mentorship opportunities. The POSTCO Lab also aligns with CineSud’s mission to facilitate sustainable careers in film by bridging gaps in the creative process and expanding access to international networks.

By focusing on post-production - often an under-supported stage for short film creators - CineSud reaffirms its commitment to championing all phases of film development and to fostering a robust, artistically ambitious Limburgian and European short film landscape.
