Aftermovie Euregion Film Forum 2026

Looking back on a vibrant celebration of regional and international storytelling.

Geplaatst op 6 april 2026

A little over two week ago, we wrapped up a highly successful edition of the Euregion Film Forum 2026. Over three days, the forum celebrated cinematic storytelling across the border region of the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany, combining screenings, talent development and industry exchange.

Makers Day: talent, exchange and new opportunities

On March 20, Makers Day brought filmmakers, industry professionals and emerging talent together at Lumière Cinema Maastricht for a full day of inspiration.

From practical insights on low-budget filmmaking and a case study by Karel Konings, to the return of the CineSud Talent Film Pitch, where six filmmakers presented their projects for a €2,000 production grant, the day highlighted the strength and diversity of regional voices.

The very first Euregion Student Competition showcased bold new work from student filmmakers, while the announcement of the Dutch Film Talents to Cannes 2026 participants added an exciting international perspective.

The day concluded with the ShortsLab Special, celebrating films created within ShortsLab 2025 together with cast and crew.

Masterclasses and competitions

The final day, March 21, focused on deepening knowledge and celebrating new work. Two masterclasses, by Zahra Benasri on distribution and Axel Skovdal Roelofs on editing, provided participants with practical tools to further develop their careers.

In the evening, the Euregion Shorts Competition brought the festival to a close, showcasing the newest short films from across the region and celebrating the creativity and boldness of emerging filmmakers.
