Film Talents to Cannes 2023
Training- and networking-program at Festival de Cannes.
Film Talents to Cannes is a special networking program organized by CineSud and is taking place during SFC Rendez-Vous Industry - a market for short films during Festival de Cannes. SFC Rendez-Vous Industry will take place from May 20 to May 26, 2023 and aims to bring together film professionals from around the world to show their films, network, raise awareness of you as a filmmaker, and get inspiration for new projects.
Film Talents to Cannes 2023
Participation for Film Talents to Cannes 2023 is open for every new filmmaker from the Netherlands. The selected filmmakers will present themselves and their short film during special events at SFC Rendez-Vous Industry and get an accreditation to visit the Marché du Film from May 20-May 26, 2023. Next to that, CineSud offers them special and exclusive network-opportunities with key-players in the field, access to conferences and workshops and invitations to networking drinks and receptions during the Marché.
Filmmakers are guided by two coaches of CineSud who also help them to organize one-on-one meetings with representatives of production companies, distributors, festivals and much more. Before and during the Festival de Cannes, CineSud cooperates with lots of national and international partners to ensure the selected participants receive the best training and networking possibilities. Amongst others these are the Cannes Court Metrage, SEE NL, the Netherlands Film Commission and Netherlands Film Fund, partners from the European Film Commission Network and partners from Screen Talent Europe.
This time we collaborate with partners Playgrounds (from the province of Noord-Brabant) and New Noardic Wave (Friesland-Drenthe-Groningen).

Sophie van de Pol graduated as a director from the Toneelacademie Maastricht. Since 2014 she has been working as a screenwriter and director. Not for theatre, for which she was officially trained, but for film. She has discovered the tragicomic genre and felt how great she finds it to find the balance between drama and humor.
Karel Konings comes from Belgian Limburg and he made his directorial debut with Charlie Z. In 2022, he made a short film called Jagers. The film screened at the Nederlands Film Festival 2022 and is now being distributed by Agence du Court Métrage. Later that year he also made Vogelkooi within the framework of CineSud ShortsLab, which is going into distribution as off now. After having had a taste of acting, directing and writing, Karel is determined to combine these crafts into making films that will fascinate their audiences for generations to come.
Julian Verkerk is a filmmaker from Groningen. He is not only busy with his position as a maker in Groningen and the Netherlands, but also in Europe. His work (and thus his fictional world of Klethoven) consists of an enormous composition of various elements from the film and design history of Scandinavia, France, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Belgium and England. As a result, his films are accessible to a wide European audience.
Lau, née Laurens Zautsen, is a visual artist, performing artist and filmmaker, based in Utrecht. Born in Limburg, Lau went on to attain a Bachelor's degree in Audiovisual Media from the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. Their work explores colourful worlds, peoples and emotions. This often comes with a touch of theatrics and a dash of humour but remains rooted in social realism.
Angelo Raaijmakers is a filmmaker who lives and works in Rotterdam. He makes genre-crossover films, in which he tries to make psychological issues and themes physical, by using elements of fantasy, thriller and body horror. He has an international ambition and would love to investigate and feel what his place in the world of genre-crossover filmmaking could be.
