The SHIFT Film Festival invites all filmmakers and film viewers to a digital experience of connecting with like-minded people in a digital festival space: take part in Short Film Competition & Bootcamp Shorts Lab and network with filmmakers from all over the world!

SHIFT Film Festival 2020

We celebrate the sixth edition of the SHIFT Film Festival from september 11-12, 2020 and we do so in spite, and maybe especially because, of the crazy times that 2020 has brought us so far.

With film production on hold, a closedown of cinemas, financial and funding insecurities and pressure of the lockdown, it is your creativity that thrives and needs a boost. Are you ready to shoot in October-December or do you need inspiration and direction in preparing your first or next short film? This year’s edition of SHIFT Film Festival will run online, shifting distance and creating a space for all the filmmakers to screen their films in the online cinema and enhance filmmaking skills during Bootcamp Shorts Lab. Get prepared to finally shoot and distribute your short film!

Bootcamp and workshops

Boost your filmmaking skills by joining our Writers Rooms or the Bootcamp Shorts Lab and learn everything from script development to the creative aspects of editing, sound and film distribution. 

Young cinephiles will have the chance to attend a special workshop which teaches them the basics of film in order to understand and value film on a whole different level and write perfect reviews.

Short Film Competition

September 11 and 12 we will also host the Short Film Competition online. Let us try something new together and stay positive and fresh and eager to learn new things. Let us connect despite our physical distances and prove that creativity and our love of film can shift distances! The jury for the Short Film Competition consists of Joris Hoebe, Brigit Hillenius and Jan Pool.
