Euregion Film Festival 2022
For it's seventh edition, the Euregion Film Festival, stands strong once more. This year will put a spotlight on collaboration and co-production. Crossborder Film Conference, Euregion Film Pitch, Short Film Competition, special screenings, networking drinks and many more: discover international new talents, learn from experienced professionals, get to know each other and exchange. Regardless of politics, geography or languages, the film world is always advancing: no borders can limit us.
Take this opportunity to meet and learn from international makers: check films from all over the world, and have a chance to discuss them through our Q&A sessions and Filmmakers talks; broaden your horizons with our special networking events, and reach out to our guests and participants to spark new collaborations, make new friends and be creative together.

Franziska Benz | Euregion Short Film Competition
Franziska is a German actress based in Cologne. She studied acting at the famous „Akademie für darstellende Kunst Baden-Württemberg and started her acting career on theatre stage (Staatstheater Stuttgart, Nationaltheater Mannheim, among others). Franziska is known for the leading role in the German soap opera Alles Was Zählt (2016-2019). She hosts the acting-podcast Spielplatz in which she interviews different people of the filmindustry and also directs an acting studio in Cologne.
Dave Damon | Euregion Short Film Competition
Dave studied business economics but always had a passion for film. AT5 opened his eyes to the magic of television and film. He made programs such as AT5 Journaal, Amsterdam Inc. and Bright TV. After acquiring his production experiences at the Dutch National television he founded InFocus Producties. His passion for film and storytelling is one of Dave’s strong skills. His last productions include de Beul van Entgen Luyten, the Origins and Piece of Art.
Abigail Prade | Euregion Short Film Competition
Abigail is a Dutch filmmaker based in New York City. After studying art history, she studied directing at New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. Her thesis film, Future Perfect was shot in Seoul and screened at the Netherlands Film Festival. In 2018 Abigail was selected to be part of the Locarno Filmmakers Academy and was presented as an emerging talent to the international film industry. Abigail is currently developing her first feature film and works as a freelance director and producer.
Floor van Lissa | Masterclass Relatable Characters
Floor van Lissa (Scriptwriter) After graduating from the Dutch film academy in 2014, Floor van Lissa (1988) has been working on a wide range of fiction projects. She writes for Dutch television (the VPRO production Poesjes), for stage (Ulrike Quade Company) and for film (Foodies). Floor also works as a script coach for both documentary and fiction filmmakers and teaches screenwriting at De Scenariovakschool. She also hosts and produces a podcast about screenwriting, called ‘Tekst Uit De La’.
Jahfed Wismans | Masterclass Location Scouting
Jahfed Wismans (Location Scout) started working in the Dutch film industry back in 2008, in production, and soon after started his career as a location scout and manager for a wide variety of Dutch series and films. Through his field of activity Jahfed had the chance to travel and has explored the Netherlands and the surrounding area, from Friesland to Belgian Limburg. Jahfed worked for widely viewed Dutch series such as Flikken Maastricht, Dokter Deen, Moeder ik wil bij de Revue, and many more.
Marina Wijn | Masterclass Casting & Acting Regulation
Marina Wijn (Casting Director) graduated in 2002 with a Masters Degree in Theatre Science. Since then, she has worked as a casting director for almost 16 years. During her career she cast over 80 feature films and series (Emmy Award Winner, Anything Goes (2015)). She teaches at acting schools both in The Netherlands and abroad. Marina is a member of the International Casting Directors Network (ICDN), Casting Society of America (CSA) and The European Film Academy.
Important! Due to the covid-19 restrictions, the Crossborder Film Conference - including the Euregion Film Pitch and FilMatch - is postponed till April 22 and will take place in Venlo during The Limburg Film Festival in Maaspoort.
Crossborder Film Conference
The Crossborder Film Conference in the heart of the Euregion and BeNeLux is focused on co-production among the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany & Luxembourg. During the next edition we will talk about film production anticipating on COVID-19, co-production possibilities within BeNeLux & Euregion, listen to case studies of co-produced projects and host Euregion Film Pitch and FilMatch - a matchmaking session for producers to meet potential co-producers.

Are you developing a feature or documentary project, searching for a (co)producer and a development grant? Then the Euregion Film Pitch is the place to be! During the Crossborder Film Conference hosted by the Limburg Film Festival you can present your projects to the invited professionals and jury and win €2.000 for the development of your film!

FilMatch
Are you developing a feature or documentary project, searching for a (co)producer? During the Crossborder Film Conference hosted by the Limburg Film Festival you can take part in the FilMatch - a matchmaking session for producers to meet potential co-producers to further develop the projects. During one hour, you will have 10-minute meetings with producers from Euregion: the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium & Luxembourg.

Throwback to the Euregion Film Forum 2023, with the Limburgian avant-première of The Man from Rome by Jaap van Heusden, exciting talks, special film screenings, FilMatch, avant-premières and much more. Euregion Film Festival 2022
Euregion Film Festival 2022 had its hybrid seventh edition from March 1-6 both live and online. 12 short films competed in the short film competition, 4 films were shown in the 'Made in Heerlen'-special. The side-program consisted of Filmmakers- and CineTalks, workshops and industry meetings. Best Film was given to Everyman, Best Euregion Film to Wall #4, Special Jury Mention to You Must Have Come From Hell, and the Audience Award to Le Pain.
Euregion Film Festival 2021
Euregion Film Festival 2021 took place March 1-7, online (due to the covid19-pandemic). 19 short films competed in the short film competition, 4 films were shown in the 'Made in Heerlen'-special. The side-program consisted of more than 20 Filmmakers- and CineTalks, workshops and industry meetings. Best Film was given to You Are Always 20, Best Euregion Film to Split-Up, Special Jury Prize to Dalia and the Audience Award to Charlie Z.
Euregion Film Festival 2020
Euregion Film Festival 2020 took place March 19-22, online (due to the covid19-pandemic we were forced to go online one week before the start of the festival). Around 20 films were shown, including 4 world premieres. Special guests were – amongst others – Bas Devos, Marietta von Hauswolff, Jolein Laarman, Ibo Karatay and Reinier Selen. Best Film was given to Unlike Today, Special Jury Prize and the Youth Jury Award to Something About Alex.
Euregion Film Festival 2019
Euregion Film Festival 2019 took place March 21-25 in Schunck in Heerlen. More than 20 films were shown, including 5 world premieres. Special guests were – amongst others – Moniek Kramer, Marietta von Hauswolff, Bart van Langendonck, Denis Vaslin, Hans de Wolf, Genaro Rosato and Janet van den Brand. Best Film was given to Pistol, Special Jury Prize to Patision Avenue and the Youth Jury chose as well Pistol as Best Film. The festival attracted 1000 visitors.
Euregion Film Festival 2018
Euregion Film Festival 2018 took place March 22-25 in Schunck in Heerlen. More than 40 films were shown, including 5 world premieres. Special guests were – amongst others – Johan Leysen, Kristof Hoornaert, Germen Boelens, Joost Rekveld, Joost Seelen, Peter Bouckaert and Remy van Heugten. Best Film was given to Wild Beast, Best Euregional Film to Stille Storm. The festival attracted 1020 visitors.
Euregion Film Festival 2017
Euregion Film Festival 2017 took place March 16-19 in Schunck in Heerlen. More than 35 films were shown, including 8 world premieres. Special guests were – amongst others – Martin Koolhoven, Robert-Jan Westdijk and Kaweh Modiri. The 2017 edition of Euregion Film Festival hosted the first edition of DocCampus and FilmCampus. Best Film winner was Allegory of the Jam Jar, Best Euregional Film Tien by Nathalie Crum. The festival attracted 750 visitors.
Euregion Film Festival 2016
Euregion Film Festival 2016 took place January 22-24 in Schunck in Heerlen. More than 30 films were shown, including 6 world premieres. Special guests were – amongst others – Pieter Kuijpers, Anne Gehring, Vera Ketelaars, Max Porcelijn, Pedro van Eecken en Harro van Staverden. The 2016 edition of Euregion Film Festival hosted the first edition of the Crossborder Film Conference. Best Film winner was Mediation, Best Euregional Film Home Suite Home by Jeroen Houben. The Special Jury Prize went to The Blue & The Beyond by Youri Dekker. The festival attracted 700 visitors.
